Community Impact Volunteers have a summer International Youth Work Camp for students who are interested to join our camp for one month. Four weeks community work will be interspersed with weekend visits to some selected sites and sounds of Ghana as a group. With this special package, campers will camp in senior high schools and use the facilities of the schools. Campers together with their Ghanaian colleagues will live in the same dormitory, use every facility together.

Campers will cook their own meals together with their Ghanaian counterparts and visit the local market together. Based on the diversity of the campers, there will be a day set aside for the countries of origin of the participants, example “Ghana Day”, on this day everything will be about Ghana, the food, music, dressing, games, etc and in the evenings entertainment programmes will be organized by the Ghanaian counterparts. Alternatively, if it’s a “German Day”, same activity will be performed, so we can learn and appreciate our diversity and have fun.

There will be regular debates and discussions on issues that confront us as young persons of the 21st century. For us to carry out this work camp we will require a minimum of 10 international volunteers registered to join their Ghanaian counterparts who are also senior high school and college graduates. We could have two camps running concurrently at different municipalities working of different things. Register and choose your preference of.

The pre-occupation of the campers will be:

  • Tree planting exercise in the mornings (08:00hrs- 12hrs). This will be done in collaboration with the communities, the forestry commission, the environmental protection agency and the municipal assemblies.
  • Construction of public toilets.
  • Construction of community health centers.
  • Construction of community schools
  • Painting of the facilities above.

OR

  • During summer holidays when most of the schools are on holidays, we organize “Rural Summer School” for junior high school students in rural communities, in science, mathematics, English, computer studies and in sports (soccer). It is to keep them busy with academic work and also to keep them out of trouble. Most children have not travelled outside their villages before, therefore volunteers will organise some educational tours for these children to help broaden their horizon. Volunteers who will sign up to this programme are pleased entreated to bring along pens, pencils, mathematical instruments, and exercise books etc as prizes for the children who will be consistent with the school.
